Letting Go

I recently met with my business mentor to discuss my mid-year review. It was the halfway point of 2017, and the review was designed to assess progress toward my goals and accomplishments during the first half of the year.

I really don’t set New Year goals but tend to work more with “themes.” My theme for this year is “releasing that which is no longer serving me.” I had a couple of major things I wanted to release this year. The first was a large office space that I no longer needed and was hardly using, as many of my clients prefer to meet by phone or Skype. I worked hard for the first couple months of the year, selling and giving away office furniture and equipment and shredding old files. It wasn’t a small task as I had occupied the office for 10 years. The lease ended in March 2017 and it felt so good to move into a smaller cozier space and save on rent.

The second release on my agenda was to sell a condo that I’d once occupied, but had been renting for the past 6 years. It had never been my goal to be a landlord, but the market for condos had dropped when I’d tried to sell the first time. But now, the market was strong. I gave the renters notice, made some repairs, and put the property on the market. I got an offer and closed the sale in April.

Although I was on a roll of “letting go,” my biggest surprise was how much was flowing to me as I released. I had more time, money, and focus with the office and condo out of the way. They had been blocking me from moving forward with other things that I wanted to pursue or create. Within 3 months of selling my condo, I was able to launch a new website, travel to Ireland and get a room in my house ready to rent as an Airbnb.

I’m excited to see what else I can release in the second half of the year. While the first half was spent on releasing physical things, I am now concentrating on beliefs, relationships, and thoughts that no longer serve me. I can’t wait to see how that takes shape in the next 6 months.

In my year of release, I have found joy, empowerment, and energy as a result of letting go.

What might you be holding onto, that needs to be released?

Let me know in the comments below.

What a timely message for me! ~ The theme of "letting go" found its way to me this year. It wasn't what I had chosen for myself, the universe picked it for me. But I'm going with the flow - and letting go, noticing the many shifts in my life that "needed" to happen. It's been a case where the universe knew more than I did about what I truly needed. ✨

Wow Theresa so happy you shared what has happened for you in the first half. It is truly inspiring. I am in the process of releasing my identity from my previous career and also an old way of being with one of my personal relationships. I am excited knowing that this will open up opportunities for me.

I feel lighter already! I am so encouraged to clear my space and let go of the physical "things" that are holding me back! I can't wait to let go, release and see what happens!
